My Motivation

I am running for the Terry County Memorial Hospital Board of Directors because I am, first, a patient advocate.  I am a practicing registered nurse. I worked at Brownfield Regional Medical Center from February 2012 until the end of June 2014, most of that time as a charge nurse.  I left the hospital due to a strong ethical disagreement with policies instituted by nursing administration.  I feel there needs to be a change at the administrative level to ensure the best patient outcomes.
We are blessed to have great physicians in Terry County and there are some local nurses who provide excellent care at BRMC.  I want to assist in improving patient care. As a registered nurse, I am unique to any other candidate, in that I provide bedside nursing for a living and am in the proverbial "trenches" of healthcare.  I worked at BRMC and am aware of policies and procedures in the facility regarding patient care.  I would like an opportunity to be a voice for positive change.
Now is an important time for change.  The hospital has requested over forty million of your tax dollars and is asking you to trust the administration to be good stewards of these funds.  I feel there needs to be a change at the administrative level to ensure the best stewardship of such a large sum of tax payer money.
Let me be your voice for change.

Vote Sharina Rodriguez for Hospital Board

* Patient Advocate

* Support Positive Changes at an Administrative Level

* A Vote for me is a Vote for the Patients of BRMC

  1. What policies specifically did you ethically disagree with and what type of changes are you looking to implement at the administrative level?

  3. Thank you for your question, Jeremy. I disagreed with the policy instituted by nursing administration regarding order entry, specifically the entry of all orders as telephone orders, regardless of the actual method of reception from the physician.
    I would like to be a voice for change at an administrative level, calling for a shift in focus to patient service and safety as a top priority. In such a small facility, I feel administration needs to be more directly involved in ensuring the best outcomes for all patients.
